SKINFOOD Royal Honey Launch - Queens of Our Hearts

SKINFOODians are probably aware of the sweet surprises we’ve been springing on the public since May! We don’t think many people missed our SKINFOOD Royal Honey Launch, but just in case, here’s a little summary of what we were up to.

Last month we were in fahrenheit88, promoting the latest addition to the SKINFOOD Malaysia family: the Royal Honey Line. Honey has been known since ancient times as a powerful, natural beauty aid, and this skincare line is no exception. Enriched with pure royal black honey and royal jelly, Royal Honey products promote skin rejuvenation and radiance, while replenishing and locking in skin moisture for up to 48 hours.

The Royal Honey Line launch also saw a very special guest: Miss Moon Jong-Min, SKINFOOD Korea’s very own professional makeup artist! She currently oversees the makeup channels for SKINFOOD Malaysia, HK, China, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and Jakarta. Ms. Moon was on hand to share her knowledge and skills through the makeup workshops we held during the launch. A small handful of lucky SKINFOODians on Facebook won the chance to participate in these workshops, and some even brought their mothers along too. Just in time for Mother's Day!

Along with the workshops and fantastic products on offer, attendees also got to enjoy event-exclusive GWP packages, and those who bought RM250 and above of SKINFOOD products got to enjoy makeovers from Ms Moon and the SKINFOOD makeup team, with photoshoots by Cite (M) Sdn Bhd for recruitment into the Ray Girl, ViVi Star, Mina Missy and Queen Model searches. Perhaps we’ll see a lovely SKINFOODian within their respective pages soon!

SKINFOOD Love Stories Contest - A Cruise To Remember

Back in February we ran the SKINFOOD Love Stories Contest, where we asked SKINFOODians to send in their best true love, sweet love and first love stories. Allysha Tong sent in a tale which went like this:

One Valentine’s Day years ago, hubby’s car broke down. We were still dating then and I was  really upset as I had looked forward to a romantic dinner together. Even worse, it was raining, the roads were jammed and we were running late! 

Sometimes life does imitate art. Like a scene from a romantic Korean drama, hubby pushed the car out of traffic’s way and dashed into a hawker center nearby. He chatted up a stall operator and amazingly managed to ‘rent’ a bike!

Everything happened so fast that I was still in a daze as we weaved our way through the crawling traffic and reached the restaurant, albeit completely dripping wet.  I looked foolish with heels, nice dress and all! The flabbergasted waiters were hesitant but after some ‘explaining’, they allowed us in. 

Everyone stared; but I was SO touched with his loving devotion. That was the sweetest Valentine’s ever. Right there and then I knew HE’s the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. 

Nowadays whenever tensions start to brew, hubby often asks cheekily whether I need a ‘romantic bike ride through the rain’ to calm down. That always has us laughing and getting all lovey-dovey again!

Allysha's story won her, among other things, a Dinner By The Cruise for two, courtesy of Mines Cruise. She and her husband got to enjoy to a romantic, private 4-course dinner while cruising slowly around the lake.

Love Is In The Air - Introducing the Skinfood Share The Love website

Happy Valentine's Day to all SKINFOODians! February is our month of love, and we want to help you spread that glorious feeling all around. We've come up with our very special Share The Love website, which you can access from our Facebook page or directly from this link. We know Malaysians have big hearts, so that's exactly what you'll see in the site.

Come To Our Tea Party!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

One more week to Chinese New Year! The mood of celebrating this Dragon year is overwhelming and we wish all our Skinfoodians a Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year!

Chinese all over the world celebrates this festive season by thoroughly cleaning the house to sweep away bad luck in hopes to make way for good fortune. Windows and doors will be decorated with red paper with popular themes of "wealth" and "longevity".






On Chinese New Year Eve, every family members will gather around for a family feast or family reunion. It is a great time for family members to sit down together and spend time with each other.

The first day of Chinese New Year, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and in return, they will receive the red packet @ Ang Pow from their elderly. Ang Pow packet symbolizes good luck and parents will normally wish their children with well wishes, peace and happiness.

Dreaming of a Chocolaty Christmas!

We probably all have our little secret cravings, yes? In times of stress, some people will start craving salt, starch, spice--or even sweets. When I'm up to my ears in work, I start craving chocolate. Badly.

Instead of nibbling on something dark, rich and milky, I decided some information would be a nice distraction.

A few sweet facts about chocolate:

• Chocolate is made from cacao beans. Cacao flowers and pods grow straight out of the tree trunk! The tree itself has the scientific name of Theobroma--which means 'food of the gods'.
• The Mayans used cacao beans as currency--some people even tried to counterfeit them by carving little clay beans.
• In early times, fermented, dried cocoa beans were ground and mixed with hot water, spices and flowers, and then frothed between two containers. (Sounds a bit like Milo tarik…)
• Way back when, it was a drink for the rich--the Aztec King Montezuma was said to drink 50 cups of it a day!
• When the Western world discovered chocolate, it was considered a health food and medicine. It was prescribed for fevers, to cool the body, aid digestion and relieve pain.
• The first milk chocolate bar was invented in 1875, by Daniel Peter and Henry Nestle. They added condensed milk to solid chocolate, and voila! White chocolate is white because it doesn't contain any actual cocoa solids--just the cocoa butter. 
• We know now that cocoa has anti-inflammatory properties, and it's a great antioxidant, which eliminates free radicals from the body. Weight for weight, dark chocolate has more than 5 times the antioxidants of blueberries!

There's also another type of chocolate to indulge in that absolutely won't affect your weight.
